Today were going to look at a few things regarding the death of my 4th great-grandfather, Frank (Franz) Schulte. He died 146 years ago at 63 years old on January 21, 1869 in Detroit, Michigan. The first document is the cemetery record. When Frank died, he was listed in the Grand Register of Mt. Elliott. We are given his death, burial and location in the cemetery as well as his cause of death. (I got this document from the cemetery) The second thing I have loaded is his grave marker. It has sunk below the earth, but the cemetery does not mind if you dig it up to take pictures as long as you dont make a mess. On his grave stone is his date of birth, date of death, age and a few other things written in German. (I took this picture at the cemetery, however you can request photographs of graves at Find-A-Grave) The last document is the first page of his estate file. When he died in 1869 he left behind a will, and it lists his children (living & deceased). This is how I discovered his daughter Theresa became a nun and lived in Buffalo, New York! I couldnt find her for a long time and assumed she either died or was married. (I got this for free at familysearch.org, under Michigan Probate Records. It isnt indexed so you have to tinker around, but I have his probate records!) Just wanted to share what you can get for free with a little work! Happy Searching!
