Todays Country: Vietnam A country south of China, occupying the eastern and southern areas of Indochina. Population approx. 90 million. Concerns and issues to pray for: 1) Post-war Vietnam is increasingly open to western ideas - including the message of the gospel. But with the advances of western ideas comes interest in materialism. 2) logging and slash-and-burn agricultural practices contribute to deforestation and soil degradation; water pollution and overfishing threaten marine life populations; groundwater contamination limits potable water supply; growing urban industrialization and population migration are rapidly degrading environment around larger cities 3) Air pollution is also a major concern. 4) Vietnams economy is also a concern with a weakening currency and a growing deficit. Please pray for continued growth of the nations economy, but also that the environmental concerns are addressed quickly by a caring government. Also pray for a huge and positive wave in the spread of the Christian message through this primarily-Buddhist nation.
