Todays Media Summit culminated in a day of Fun and Inspiration at SUNY Oswego, Celebrating 10 Years of Media Excellence. The Rainy Day began at 5:30 AM with one of SUNYs favorite Alumni Al Roker (SUNY Class of 1977) broadcasting his LIVE Wake Up with Al Weather forecast from Marano Campus Center on NBCs The Today Show. Several students from the huge crowd were able to briefly chat with Al during his live segments. The afternoon Summit Featured several venerable Greats in the Media world. The Emmy Award-winning American journalist Charlie Rose; Journalist, Best Selling Author and Media Critic Ken Auletta (Class of 1963); Pulitzer Prize-Winning Columnist Connie Schultz; President and Chief Operating Officer of Mission Broadcasting Inc, Dennis Thatcher; and Al Roker (76) were among the distinguished speakers and panelists. SUNY Oswegos President, Deborah F. Stanley, delivered the opening address. Charlie Rose received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, and the SUNY Presidential Medal was awarded to Louis A Borrelli Jr. (SUNY Oswego Class of 1977). The well-attended Audience of Students, Faculty, Guests and Visitors listened to a wide range of thought provoking and engaging discussions from the experts on a variety of hot Media topics.
