Todays Scripture(s) - Ruth3:11 (Read the Book of Ruth) And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doeth know that thou art a virtuous woman. Virtuous - conforming to moral and ethical principles; morally excellent; upright; chaste; righteous. The word virtuous I have found to be in the Word of God 3 times. A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: .... (see Proverbs 12:4). Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Not every man can afford a virtuous woman and not every man deserves to have a virtuous woman. The Lord had me to read the book of Ruth this morning. Those of you who have ever read the book of Ruth know that Ruth was the daughter in law of Naomi. Naomi had two sons who married, Naomis husband had died in Moab and her sons also died in Moab and Naomi decided to go back to Bethlehem-Judah her home town. Her daughters in law started out with her, but she told them to go back to their mothers house, And they lifted up their voice and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law, but Ruth clave unto her. (Ruth 1:14), Orpah went back but ....Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: (Ruth 1:6). Ruth must have watched her mother in law closely and she listened to all that Naomi said and followed her leading. Ruth herself saw that Naomi was a virtuous woman and apparently patterned herself after the ways of Naomi. Ruth cared for and loved her mother in law and she did all that Naomi instructed her. Naomi was a woman of God. Many of todays women unfortunately are not virtuous woman, they want a Boaz but they dont show themselves to be a Ruth. Lets look at the qualities of Ruth, she wasnt lazy (Ruth 2:2,7). She was meek and humble (Ruth 2:10). She was thoughtful (Ruth 2:18). She was obedient (Ruth 3:5). She didnt run around chasing men (Ruth 3:10). Boaz will never take notice of a Delilah (read about Samson). (We will talk more about Him another day.) We have too many Delilahs running around and the Delilahs want Boaz but you see Boaz wants Ruth. The woman of virtue does not hang out at the clubs. The woman of virtue is not lazy and does not lie around all day doing nothing. The woman of virtue is wise and takes care of herself and when she has a family she takes care of her family. The woman of virtue is strong and she can carry her own and she doesnt want or need a man for material possession, but rather she wants and needs a man that can and will enhance her and she him. (Read about the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31:10-31). Mothers raise up your daughters to be Ruths teach them about the Lord, show them how to be a real lady it starts early. What you put into them is what you will glean. Make them into virtuous woman for a virtuous womans price is far above rubies is high in value and not just any ole man can afford to have her.
