Tommy Tomescu and the tiny Europeans Party put to shame the careless anti-EU rhetoric of too much of the left. They have the support of a number of cultural associations of (other) Europeans in the UK. They are responding robuatly to xenophobic scapegaoating in the Tory-loving media and Tomescu showed up and faced down one of the Tory right-wingers on Channel 4 News last night. Up to now, tthe so-called internationalist left, to its shame, has done scarcely anything to argue against this climate. On the contrary, its most public pronouncements, in the shape of No to EU, echo many of the same themes and express little solidarity with migrant workers. No to xenophobia, yes to solidarity, no to the bosses, in whichever form they organise themselves!
