Tonight I visited a local funeral home to pay my respect to the family and friends of Pat Murphy. For two hours I stood in line and made my way, turning left - turning right, to the front. There are no words one can say to comfort a grieving family. There are no readily available answers. There is nothing but an empty heart wrenched with pain and disbelief. I stood in line, and looked at others around me. Dignitaries, officers, judges, attorneys, and many, many more. Each feeling the loss and sharing in the pain and empty void left behind and I started thinking...... My daddy use to tell me give me flowers while I am living - I cant smell them when Im dead. I use to smile, and cringe within my soul to even think of him being gone; hes been gone now for over 23 years. Gratefully, we shared a lot of flowers during our years together. To be specific, sterling roses! So heres my soap box tonight: Dont let a day pass you by without letting those you care about KNOW how you feel. A kind word, a quick phone call, a simple how are you may make the world of difference in their life and may be greatly needed. Hold your tongue from callous and unkind words; stay away from hate and bitterness. Keep your ugliness within your own walls and dont gossip. Words filled with hate could be the catalyst of someones world crashing around them. Be a positive influence and run from negativity. Dont feed anothers fire - be the water that stops the burning. Even the strongest fire can be quenched with one drop of water at a time. And in the end, be proud of who you are and what you brought to others.
