Tonight, after eight years of serving, I went to my last meeting - TopicsExpress

Tonight, after eight years of serving, I went to my last meeting as a member of the Montgomery County Library Board of Trustees. I have enjoyed serving on this board probably more than any other because public libraries are so near and dear to my heart. As a little girl who lived in the country and didnt get the opportunity to go to the library every week, I lived for that phone call from our neighbors up the road to let us know the Bookmobile was on its way to our house!! I would go in and choose my books and have a little chat with my librarian, Mrs. Wheeler. She knew what I liked and always had something special picked out for me. I even did the summer reading program on the Bookmobile. Over the years I have used the library as a place to go for information, entertainment, solace, work, escape and service. I have taken my girls to the library since they were babies for books, movies, music, story hour, programs, computer use, homework, summer reading, volunteering, or sometimes just to see Aunt Joyce so I have a lot of good memories there as well. I hope you will support our library board as they move forward with their work. It was an honor to be chosen as a trustee and it has been a privilege to serve my community in this way. We have the greatest director and library staff in the state! If you see them, tell them thank you for what they bring to our community!!
