Tony Nob When leaving MF headed east on 1431, at approximately the 5 mile mark you will enter a valley and start up a winding hill with double curves. There have been many auto and motorcycle accidents on this hill, especially before the road was widened to its current state. At the top of the hill, The Leon Whitman ranch was on the right. This is also near the county road leading to the Richland cemetery. Looking southwest from 1431 there is a conspicuous spherical hill that a geologist would describe as an anti clinal structure. This is Tony Nob, a subject of occasional discussion and wonderment in my young life. Over the years, I heard many conjectures about its true nature, ranging from a precursor to an oil deposit to an ancient Enormous Indian burial Mound. Long ago, people in the area did find many arrowheads there. When I was about 6 or 7 years old, Leon told me the following in a spooky voice, If you go up there by yourself and say - Old Indian, Old Indian, what are you doing buried there? He will say, Nooooottthhhinng At All. Needless to say, I fell for it.
