Tonys awesome paragraph in response to a thread, I lived in and played in NYC for many years In fact we (twinkle) just played BB Kings NYC back in dec. The noise floor in NYC measured from anywhere in the street even at 3:00 am is about 85 db so that doesnt work as a comparison to here. but you have touched on something here., The venues in this area almost never have p.a., It would be great if The city of the arts venues had beautiful sounding P.A. and adequate sound proofing, It would also be great if the city, (due to the wonderful revenue brought in by live outdoor music) would soundproof residential buildings downtown, much like they did in bradenton a few years ago for the homes in the flight path of SRQ airport. It would also be great if the people complaining about the noise were actually complaining about noise. The people complaining just dont like the particular music (that according to one police officer that responded to a complaint could only be heard if the resident, shut off his air conditioner, turned off his tv and opened all the doors and windows) Bobs Boathouse has recieved over 40 complaints about noise levels and NEVER been given a citation. So I guess the answer is to keep changing the rules until hes guilty of something? Hardly seems fair. And dont bash the 80s dude! I loved the 80s! lol I just feel, and I am admittedly biased here due to my occupation, That we should be celebrating the diverse music in our area. And Promote sarasota as a music mecca (because it is) along the lines of say, Austin, Nashville, chicago, New York City and New Orleans
