Took part in a discussion on Gaza today. Its irritating and tiresome to hear from some the need to bring so called balance into the debate. This is not about balance, or even handiness or a level playing field. This is not a war from two opposing sides. This is a slaughter of innocent men, women and children. There is no balance, just facts. And the fact is that the people of Gaza live in some of the worst conditions imaginable starved of food, deprived of medical supplies with 1.7millin people corralled into a tiny strip of land. This strip of land is subject to an illegal blockade with the Israelis controlling everything and everybody that comes in and out of Gaza. Bombs are raining down on schools, hospitals and residential areas. And the reason for this is not about rockets, tunnels or Hamas but about control, humiliation, torture and collective punishment of a people for exercising their right to vote. Its also about breaking up the Unity Government in Palestine. So well meaning people who feel the need to talk about balance are ignoring the reality of whats happening - genocide and war crimes being carried out by the Israeli state..
