::::: Top 10 Current Affairs::::: 1. One of the world’s largest railway systems is going mobile. Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will be starting SMS-based ticketing services from 1st July that will link the mobile number with IRCTC and the bank for payment purposes. 2. India and Afghanistan have pledged to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors, particularly in the field of education. India is currently one of the largest providers of education scholarships to Afghan youth under various programmes. 3. The Special Representatives of India and China held the 16th round of border talks today in Beijing to find a solution to the vexed border issue. Finance minister P Chidambaram on Friday said that the Union Cabinet has approved Mumbai metro line 3. The estimated cost for the metro project has been pegged at Rs 23,136 crore. The Rajasthan government on 27 June 2013 launched a unique scheme called Mukhyamantri Bijli Bachat Lamp Yojna for energy conservation. 6. Eighteen rural girls from Jharkhand are all set to board a Madrid-bound flight on Thursday to play Donosti Cup football tournament in Spain from 1st -6th July. The girls will represent Yuwa-India, an NGO, and compete in the U-14 category in the international youth football tournament at San Sebastian. 7. The Supreme Court on Friday rescheduled the dates of West Bengal panchayat elections and directed the State Election Commission to conduct the exercise in five phases starting July 11. 8. Ace paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal and national champion K. Shamini will spearhead the Indian challenge in the men’s and women’s sections respectively, at the Asian TT Championship in Busan from June 30 to July 7. 9. In a bid to ramp up investor sentiment, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday set an investment target of Rs. 1.15 lakh crore in PPP (public private partnership) projects across infrastructure sectors in rail, port and power in the next six months. 10. Three Indian projects received U.N. Public Service Awards this year which is the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions that lead to a more effective and responsive public administration in countries worldwide.
