Tottenham plan January bid for El El Shaarawy : Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is plotting a bid to sign AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy in January, while Juventus’ Fernando Llorente is also among their list of targets, according to the The planned activity comes despite Tottenham’s heavy investment in attacking players over the summer, which saw the club break its transfer record twice. In all, around £90m was spent on the likes of Paulinho, Roberto Soldado, Erik Lamela and Cristian Eriksen, but Villas-Boas is still keen to bolster his striking options. Since arriving at White Hart Lane, Soldado has been first-choice to play the lone striker role, with Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe both having fallen out of favour. Adebayor has been linked with a loan move, while Defoe could depart in January. And El Shaarawy, 20, has shown impressive form since becoming a regular at the San Siro last season, in which he scored 19 goals in 46 appearances, helping his side to third in Serie A. The Italy international would cost Tottenham at least £20m, the newspaper adds. Tottenham might stand a better chance of signing Llorente, however, as the Spaniard has experienced very little first-team action since joining Juventus earlier this summer from Athletic Bilbao. #COYS
