Tour Update: So as I mentioned we had a tour of the birth suite this afternoon at our new hospital! I dont know why but I assumed wed be the only ones there, but there were at least 8 or so other couples! Preggy Central!! In a nutshell it was great! A little sad I have to admit though, as we were so used to our other hospital! Frankstons maternity ward is much bigger with less of an intimate feel! On the upside there is more staff and the level of care Im sure is just as wonderful! They have two great birthing baths but it was explained to us that using them is only allowed if the Delivery is low risk! So that rules Chels out unfortunately! What was wonderful however is that there are some single rooms! My heart is literally torn though! Why? As partners ARE allowed to stay if you have your own room! Surely this should be incredible news but we have an issue with our pets! Theres no one to look after them in the evenings except me! They are both rescues so leaving them with others they dont know isnt an option unfortunately! Their anxiety would be too high! The only way I think Im going to get to stay is if Chels indeed is induced and we can organise accommodation for them with our alternate housesitter! This can only be arranged in advance as he books up quickly and for Chels to just go into labor naturally and me call him at the last minute wouldnt work! So we will see! We love our boys so much and dont want to stress them more than needed with such s big adjustment coming! Then again to be without Chels and my new baby girl will be such a struggle! Again, Im torn! We will just have to see how things go! Chels doesnt know if she can get an epidural now as her low Platelet levels may prevent it, but if she can ( fingers crossed) they have 24 hour epidurals! I giggled when the midwife said this! She made it seem like a 24 hour McDonalds was on site! Great to know for Chels though! Lots mats, birthing balls and and the actual delivery room was very nice! Big windows, which Sandy didnt have, so it felt lighter and bigger!! Not as clinical! So, there are MANY positives to this hospital, especially the travel time to it! 10 minutes exactly! Perfect!! We spoke to one of the midwives at the end of the tour and she said that the clinic should indeed be calling us tomorrow to make an appointment for us! Hopefully from there we will have a care plan put in place!! I will touch base as Soon as weve from the hospital! Fingers crossed we can get In To see the doctor ASAP!!
