Tourism Ministry signs memo of understanding with the Syria trust for development to revive handicraft industries Nov 07, 2013 #Damascus,(#SANA)-Tourism Ministry and Syria Trust for Development signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the tourism factors and rehabilitate the cadres working in the field of handicraft. Tourism Minister Bishir Yazigi stressed that the agreement is an important step to develop tourism and young cadres working in the field of handicraft, which constitutes an identity of the career history in Syria. The Minister added that the move is an indication to a new trend of investment which depends on a scientific basis. For his part, Secretary of the Syria Trust for Development Faris Kalas said that the developmental work wont be active without cooperation between the public and private sectors to support the handcraft sector, pointing out that some professions are threatened of extinction, calling on the civil society to revive them under the supervision of Tourism Ministry. According to the memorandum of understanding, centers for practicing handcrafts and selling their products will be opened, in addition to reviving places for hand-made glass in all provinces to train new craftsmen, in addition to participating in the internal and external exhibitions for local products.
