Tracing our roots in Samoki, Bontoc Mt. Province – Fanao Family As of May 16, 2014 (My dear relatives: this is just the beginning. For sure there are corrections. Let us help each other to establish our family tree).. thank you... thank you... Introduction: It was on May 14, 2014 when Anne Fanao Na-oy-Soriano, her daughters Ma. Fe Esperanza and Abigail Soriano, her niece, Florilyn Na-oy Gacusan, and her grandchild named Anne Marie were enroute to Samoki, Bontoc, Mt. Province to start tracing their roots. They are the lineage of Bernard Fanao. The trace starts: An Interview with Ina Tuyod Fadchar A niece of Bernard Fanao by his cousin named Fakokad. The trace all started with my question on who are the siblings of Bernard Fanao. Bernard Fanao had three (3) other siblings named Allatog (male), Ngiyan and Tekan both females. We proceeded down the line on who the children of these siblings were. Bernard had 5 children: Beatrice, Margaret, Lillian, Catherine and Benson. Allatog had three(3) children: Padsing, Lubfid and Khamen. Ngiyan had six (6) children: Lawagan, Etngay, Pat-ek Kimmutan, Fannakan and Chamla. Tekan had an only child named Pad-eng. Ina Tuyod Fadchar also traced another lineage but still is related to Bernard Fanao. Fakokad (F), still alive as of this writing is the 1st cousin of Bernard. The Mother of Bernard is the sibling of Ikaw (Male), the father of Fakokad. Here are the children of Fakokad: Tuyod Fadchar, Chamaya Fangtowan Felwa, Khamen, Tangib and Agustin. Tuyod Fadchar has 10 children: Abelina, Raymundo, Manuel, Leona, Tommy, Mike, Antonia, Viola, Jerome and Elmo. Chamaya Fangtowan Felwa has four (4) children: Paula Andaya, Cion Astudillo, Soling (married in Kayan, Tadian, Mt. Province), and Felwa Jr. Khamen’s children: (incomplete but one is named Concepcion}. Tangib has eight (8) children: Manuel, Merced, Matilda, Francis, Elmundo, Ikaw, Lando (married in Alab), and John. Agustin’s children: (incomplete but one of is named Alex married to a Bandonill). Og-ukhod Ina Chamla: (As with the interview with Tuyod Fadchar, the “og-ukhod” started with the siblings of Bernard Fanao). Chamla is one of the Children of Ngiyan, a sibling of Bernard Fanao. The other siblings of Bernard are Allatog (Male), Tekan (Female) and Etngay (male) who died at an early age during the WWII. We note that ‘Etngay” is added. This was not mentioned by Tuyod Fadchar because as Chamla has stated, he died at an early age. He is the 1st child of the Fanao siblings. Chamla is older than Tuyod. As to the parents of these siblings, Chamla could not remember, as of this writing. Going back to the Fanao lineage. Chamla and Tuyod mentioned the same names as to the children of the Fanao siblings. Continuing down the line to the grandchildren of the Fanao Siblings, we start with Bernard. Beatrice, the 1st child of Bernard had 2 children named Florence (Pololin), single and died in her 30’s, and Mandy married to Jaime Morana of Mindoro. Mandy died on January 11,2012 in Mindoro due to stroke. (The names of Mandy’s children are still to be obtained). Margaret, married to Valentino Yano of Cuba, Kapangan, Benguet and had eight (8) children. Marian Gawiden, Felix, Nicasio, Moises, James, Elsie Chan, Pureza Agbuya and Lina Soriano. Lillian, married to Celestino Domanog Na-oy of Demang, Sagada, Mt. Province had eight (8) children: Melvin, Anne Soriano, Abigail Ceferino, Miguel (single), Alpha Carina Bala-oy, Manuel, Antonella Evangeline Gacusan, and Marcos.
