Trail Days in Damascus, Virginia and a few more. 463 miles into my trek. Regrouping for a few days then heading back to the mountains to finish what I started. I didnt think a few short months would change me that much but it truly has. It really is difficult coming back to civilization and trying to acclimate myself back to the real world. Experienced disabling motion sickness for the first time because my body has only been traveling 2.5 to 3mph for the past 2 months then I hopped in a vehicle and went 65-70mph for over 24 hours. I was on bed rest for a solid 3 days because I was so dizzy and felt like I was going to fall over and vomit every time I stood up. Faucets, toilets, easily accessible water and multitudes of people have all played a part of the culture shock Ive been going through. Ive honestly found myself quite depressed. I understand these feelings are normal and try to keep a positive attitude by reminding myself how truly blessed I am. I know not everyone can put their life on hold for 4 to 6 months and hike 2000+ miles of mountains up and down the United States. I do believe I was called to the Appalachian Trail and Im certain I will be a better man after my expedition is complete. And who knows, maybe our God will use me and my story to help and show someone a better way of life along the way.
