Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 Proverbs 22:6 doesnt guarantee a child’s future choices. Because of that it is imperative for parents to give their children spiritual education along with career preparation. There are biblical guidelines for parents of young children to follow, by which they can raise their children in a godly manner. What is the advantage of doing so? First, it makes a more pleasant home to have children trained in love, respect, obedience, kindness, etc., in contrast to homes in which children do whatever they please at all times! But more than that, parents rearing their children in a godly manner give those children a wonderful window on what it would mean for them to choose God’s way of life – when the time comes for them to make a choice. Children in a home managed by godly parents will have the opportunity to see God’s way of life in action year after year. When they reach maturity they will then have a better understanding of the consequences or rewards that will come from their choices. But what if they have no parents, family or home? For Your Consideration: “Children are the worlds most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.” John F. Kennedy Our Christmas Prayer: Gracious God, I pray that you will help me to understand that the true gift of Christmas isnt wrapped up in presents or parties. The gift of Christmas is Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten of the Father, the Son of God. As I follow Him, I will begin to put people first. I may spend less time in lines and more time serving others. I may spend less money on - and more time with - the people I love. I may lose myself and I may find everything else that matters. I pray that you will bestow upon me the gift of becoming childlike in how I see you, the world, and those without a family to celebrate your birth. I give this over to you. Amen.
