Training tip; trying to build muscle? Keeping a muscle under tension is imperative when trying to attain muscle hypertrophy (growth). When you lock out at the top of a movement the tension comes off the muscle and onto a joint. Take the 2 movement in the video, by not locking out at the top of a squat the tension stays on the quads, hamstrings, glutes and core rather than the knee and hip joint at lock out. By not locking out at the top of a shoulder press the tension stays on the triceps and deltoids rather than the shoulder and elbow joint.
