We conduct our research on a small eutrophic lake near Kaikoura which has prolific cyanobacterial blooms which produce a potent toxin called microcystin..........This is a small bay in the lake which we started calling Tranquility Bay during our April 2014 fieldwork.........It is also the site for a study where we intensively sampled the bay over a 90 min period in order to better understand why cyanobacteria produce microcystins.
