Calling President Obama’s overreaching executive action on immigration “one of the largest extra-constitutional power grabs ever by a chief executive,” U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., took to the House floor on Wednesday to say “it’s about damn time” Congress uses the power of the purse to limit the president’s action. “This is not a fight between Republicans and Democrats,” he said. “This is not even a fight over immigration reform. This is a fight over whether this branch of government will ever find the courage to stand up for itself.” The GOP-led House voted Wednesday to block funding for Obama’s executive amnesty in a 236-191 vote — two Democrats voted in favor of the measure.
