Tribal Community Activities FEBRUARY 2014 Attention Tribal Members, the State of the Tribe Address will be Saturday, March 8th at the Entertainment Hall. Doors open at 9 am, breakfast at 10 am and the State of the Tribe Address will be at 11 am. The Tribal College will host a Family Craft Valentines event on February 6th from 4 pm to 7 pm. Jake & Mary Pine will be at 7th Generation on February 6th & 7th. Please call (989) 775-4780 for an appointment. Ziibiwing will host The Art of the Great Lakes Indians on February 8th from 10 am to 3 pm. This event is free and open to the public. Stop in at the Tribal Gym on Saturday, February 8th between the yours of 10 am and 2 pm to receive free passes to Ziibiwing and Celebration Cinema. Only the first 25 families will receive tickets. All SCIT Tribal Member Elders from all districts can enjoy a free Elder’s Breakfast on Wednesday, February 12th & 26th at Andahwod from 9 am to 10 am. Daddy Daughter Date Night will take place at Ziibiwing on Wednesday, February 12th from 6 pm to 8 pm. Donnie Dowd, Traditional Healer, will be at Behavioral Health on February 12th from 10 am to 4 pm. There is one vacant board seat available on the Education Advisory Committee. Send Letters of Interests to the Education Department before February 13th. Grandmother Moon Ceremony and Bear Hide Forgiveness Bundles will take place on February 13th at Behavioral Health from 4 pm to 7:30 pm Andahwod will host the Elder’s Valentine Ball on Friday, February 14th from 5 pm to 8 pm. The Tribal Observer deadline for the February issue is Friday, February 14th at 3 p.m. Mom 2 Mom Sale will take place on Saturday, February 15th from 10 am to 3 pm at the Tribal Gym. Please contact the LEADS Department to register your youth between the ages of 8 & 12 for Winter Camp. The camp will be held on Saturday, February 15th from 10 am to 9 pm. Tribal Operations is closed on Monday, February 17th for President’s Day. Kids of all ages are invited to celebrate I Love My Library Month. Library Bingo will take place on February 18th from 4 pm to 5:30 pm Sign up for Performance Circle during the first class on February 18th from 4 pm to 5:30 pm at Ziibiwing. A Passport Fair will be held at Andahwod on Friday, February 21st from 1 pm to 5 pm. The Post-Partum Support Group meets on February 22nd from 11 am to 1:30 pm in the Nimkee Kitchen. There will be a Luau in the Tribal Gym on February 27th from 6 pm to 8 pm. 7th Generation Winter Feast will be held on February 28th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The homework lab is open Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tribal Gym office location. Shidokan Martial Arts is taught at the Tribal Gym every Monday and Tuesday from 7 pm to 8 pm. The Seventh Generation Program has a sacred fire lunch every Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm at the Elijah Elk building on the corner of Remus and Shepherd roads. Andahwod Senior Facility serves dinners every Thursday from 4:30 pm - 6 pm – to go dinners are available. Anishinaabe Language Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm to 7 pm and noon to 1 pm at the Language Center. Mt. Pleasant Indian Industrial Boarding School Committee has three seats available. Letters of Interested are being accepting at the Public Relations Office until February 28th. The Men’s Society meets on Mondays at the Saginaw Chippewa Academy Lodge from 6 pm to 8 pm. Enjoy Open Gym on Wednesdays at the Tribal Gym from 6 pm to 9 pm. Behavioral Health host Men & Women’s Traditions 101 on Thursdays from 3 pm to 5 pm. Women’s Traditions if held at Behavioral Health on Mondays from 5 pm to 6:30 pm. Learn to Hoop Dance. Class meets on Thursdays at the Tribal Gym from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. Keyboarding and Learnkey is held on Tuesday from 2 pm to 4 pm and on Friday from 10 am to noon at the IT department.
