Tribute.ca is accepting applications for three to six-month editorial internships. Tribute’s interns attend editorial meetings, work with our editors and gain hands-on experience at Canada’s leading movie showtimes website. A number of former Tribute interns have gone on to successfully obtain employment in the field. If you are a university or college student, the internship can be used for college credit if your school allows it. Interns work two to four days per week (or five days per week if your school requires) and although there is no monetary payment, please ask about your travelling expenses - we can potentially cover all or a portion of your expenses if youre in the GTA (if youre doing this for school, please check with your school administrator to see if this is allowed). You’ll also get free movie passes, attend advance movie screenings, watch and review DVDs before theyre available to the public. Duties include writing credited articles for the website, fact-checking and proofreading for the editorial department. Although some journalism experience is preferred, such as having written freelance for other magazines or newspapers, or having experienced prior internships in online and/or print media, we are open to all applicants who have a desire to learn. We train interns in a variety of computer programs and XHTML, as well as helping them with the basics of journalism writing. Finally, we provide them with the intel/experience needed to land a job in the industry. To apply, email a cover letter, resumé, and if possible, writing samples to the HR Department at [email protected]. Responses may take two to four weeks. A selection of candidates will be contacted via email or phone to schedule an in-person interview.
