Trish Yarbrough Wallace Says My son is 8 years old and was given an Asperger’s diagnosis at the age of 3. In addition to Asperger’s, he has ADHD, OCD, Sensory Integration Disorder and joint hypermobility. He was accepted into a research program at Duke University and they uncovered 6 gene mutations that have not been identified in anyone else in the United States. They are telling us that it could be a new form of Autism or a new illness all together. We don’t know how to treat it or what to expect in the future. The research will continue. If someone else in the USA pops up with the same mutations, Duke University is alerted. I’m curious to find out if there are other parents that have had genetic research done for their child and if so were you told something similar? The database my son is in is just for the USA. I’d like to find parents outside of the USA (or within the USA) that have had the genetics testing done with unknown mutations and compare symptoms of our children. We’re located in North Carolina.
