Tropical Storm Arthur Update. Friday night remains a close call - TopicsExpress

Tropical Storm Arthur Update. Friday night remains a close call for the NY metro area...but we are leaning towards dry. Saturday & Sunday should be sunny & dry 1. The storm bypasses Florida. Just breezy with a few gusty squalls possible along the central and north east coast. 2. There is a threat of coastal flooding from Georgia to Virginia from Wednesday to Friday. The highest threat is in North Carolina, especially from Cape Fear (south of Wilmington) to Cape Hatteras. The National Hurricane Center is forecasting a hurricane over or near Cape Hatteras Friday morning. Even taking into account the errors intrinsic in forecasting these things... the odds favor a disruptive storm for the beginning of the holiday weekend in coastal NC. Well have to watch the situation in GA and SC carefully. Its too close to call. 3. In the Northeast and New England, nasty weather is expected Thursday into Friday, but its also too close to call about the weather Friday night. There is a cold front coming. If the moisture from the storm interacts with the front and/or the storm stays to the left (coastal) side of the track, it will continue to be bad into Saturday. In any case, most of Saturday and all of Sunday look good. And, if the storms stays just far enough away, and the odds favor that, the weather will improve west to east Friday afternoon and evening. LOTS to watch the next few days. --via Meteorologist Bryan Norcross
