Troy University to host Basic GIS Workshop for business professionals TROY—An upcoming workshop presented by Troy Universitys Department of Continuing Education will teach business professionals how to turn marketing, sales and customer data into useful and easy to understand maps. The two-day Basic Geographic Information System (GIS) Workshop will be held Nov. 24-25 at the Troy Campus. The course will teach participants how GIS can be an asset in business planning and decision making in a variety of fields. Participants will learn how GIS is used to store, manage, analyze and visualize spatial data to assist professionals in making better decisions, said Dr. Steve Ramroop, Associate Professor and Director of the Surveying and Geomatics Sciences Program. The workshop will help anyone working in fields that involve the collection of data. The workshop will cover an overview of GIS and data collection, including the use of public domain GIS software and common processing tasks. The workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
