Truckload of relief goods attacked in Tanauan, Leyte A group of unidentified men attacked Sunday a truckload of relief goods supposedly for 25,000 families affected by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in Leyte province. Philippine Red Cross Chairman Richard Gordon said in a television interview that the men mobbed the relief goods when the truck passed by Tanauan Bridge. The truck, he said, carried food items and water, among other goods, to be distributed to about 25,000 families when the attack happened Sunday. Gordon said he tried to call the police but nobody answered his calls. He appealed to law enforcers to help locate the attackers and recover the stolen items. Tanauan is one of the areas badly hit by Typhoon Yolanda in Leyte province. A number of families have been displaced in the area, while several structures and houses were damaged. The town is located just kilometers away from Tacloban City, where scores have been reported dead two days after Yolanda’s landfall. (Sunnex)
