Truly honored to join Hector Gonzales and the Lincoln Park Conservation Committee at the annual Cesar Chavez Day Picnic at Lincoln Park. I had an opportunity to share my personal story getting to march with Cesar, working for the UFW as a Public Action Organizer from 1994 to 1996, filing and passing legislation with Senator Carlos Truan establishing the Cesar Chavez Texas Optional Holiday, filing legislation naming and codifying Cesar Chavez Highway in Texas statutes, and sharing that I have two signed picket signs by Cesar and a UFW flag signed and dedicated by Helen Chavez, Dolores Huerta, and Arturo Rodriguez. (I will share the flag as soon as I take the picture....it is on my wall.)
