Trying to learn to lock beyond the clock, its gonna be hard to let - TopicsExpress

Trying to learn to lock beyond the clock, its gonna be hard to let go. But I am open and willing to change. As Sheryl Crow sang a change would do you good. I already know from the tri life when after my accident I was told I would never do competitive sport again..the thought I had was not about times, or PBs...I remembered the friendships, the camaraderie, and inspirational sportsmanship, I saw people who in their roughest race day, were talking walking, crawling, being ill on the side of the road and somehow not only did they determined drag themselves to the finish line they managed to round up and drag other people struggling with them. People that started competitors ending a 16 hour plus day as a team, sometimes literally taking it in turns to prop each other up. I remember seeing a lady with a broken ankle being helped to the finish by another racer way after the cut off time to be a official finisher...and another racer who had finished the race within the limit giving her his finisher medal because he felt she deserved it more. Well, ironman is a special beast...but looks like shorter events can brig out the best in people too...and in a time when we hear so much negative about the young generation, in terms of being selfish, lazy, uneducated, with a over developed sense of entitlement....I thought this story was a really nice one...nbcconnecticut/news/local/Teen-Shows-True-Sportsmanship-During-Cross-Country-Meet-229955611.html?_osource=SocialFlowFB_CTBrand
