Trying to understand our local station KHTS a bit better. I listen - TopicsExpress

Trying to understand our local station KHTS a bit better. I listen sometimes on my lunch hour, and it seems most every time I listen to a program what I am hearing is actually a form of advertisement. Right now for example, is a program dedicated to The Warrior Fitness selling a $250 per person fitness challenge. And even though the program is advertising, there are still regular commercials during breaks. I guess it seems unusual to me that programs as advertisements are so frequent. For the record though I really like that we have a local radio station covering the SCV. Is this just the norm for programming? Does Arif Halaby pay KHTS to do his show teaching people about money while simultaneously advertising his companies services? Why does Messinas show discuss topics that have nothing to do with the SCV? Are some of the show hosts paying rather than getting paid? I dont get it.
