Tsvangirai where the hell are you? Tsvangirai is one man who - TopicsExpress

Tsvangirai where the hell are you? Tsvangirai is one man who has escaped our attention for quite some time now. Its probably because our radar is congested like never before with one of the best political thrillers of all time. We cannot afford to miss a single episode of A Thousand Miles To Graceland - the Zimbabwean version. Surely who would want to miss such a rare opportunity to watch our very own first lady playing the leading role in this never-to-be-seen-again blockbuster. Our favourite episode was the one where Mrs Sweetass Oldman received that fake doctorate degree from none other than her own husband, Mr Goingsoon Oldman on national television and in front of her kids, all sired by different men. Hell that was a marvellous scene to watch. Those who missed some episodes should not fret, we have been recording and posting some of the episodes on this page. Just scroll down and enjoy. For now we want to get serious and teach Morgan Tsvangirai the MDC-T president one or two things about successfull political leadership and power. Funny as the obtaining politics of the land has become, the reality is that the country is bleeding profusely. Technically the country is without a leader, a government, nor a serious opposition party. Who is running the government when the party in power is in total chaos like this? Ministers and civil servants are spending the bulk of their time fighting each other and attending rallies as if we are on the threshold of yet another election this year. Meanwhile Morgan Tsvangirai who happens to lead the largest opposition party is sleeping on the job. How he fails to notice that Zanu-Pf is no longer in charge is anybodys guess. Does he want Mugabe to come to him and tell him to take over? Hell no, that will never happen. Yet it is now clear that Mugabe has long surrendered the reigns of power to whosoever is up to the task of rebuilding the country he singlehandedly destroyed. Only one person has noticed and that person is Grace, thats why she is making the news. She knows Mugabe is half dead, a pale shadow of his former self. Either Tsvangirai and his group of useless advisors have failed to notice this golden opportunity to complete the change that his party has been advocating and fighting for all these years or the infiltration of his advisory council by the CIO has crippled him from understanding that the country is crying for a leader. Even those in the Zanu-Pf camp, a majority of them in fact, have not yet come to the full realisation that their party is now without a leader, thats why they are watching in stupid silence as Dr Grace embarasses them on a daily basis with her uncircumsised and uncouth political act. But perhaps the greatest tragedy is that the one man whose voice can awaken the whole nation into action is busy dealing with congress issues as if an MDC-T congress is what the doctor ordered for Zimbabwe. He is oblivious to the fact that politics is a game of opportunists where one must constantly be on the lookout for any slight opportunity to pounce on ones rivals. We were pleasantly encouraged a few weeks ago when Tsvangirai announced that he would be mobilising the people to go on protest demos across the country. We however wonder if Tsvangirai also noticed the speed and efficiency with which the Zanu-Pf regime reacted to this announcement, the way the junta quickly rounded up the Makandiwas, the Magayas and their secular counterparts in the CIO to warn the masses against taking heed of Tsvangirais call. The CIO operatives who are part of his advisory council were also instructed to keep him preoccupied with party issues that he gets no time to plan and call for the demos. If Morgan Tsvangirai has not noticed this reaction from Zanu-Pf and what it means then he needs divine help to understand his calling. He needs to understand what it means to be the leader of an opposition political party with a wide grassroot support base. He needs to know that doing nothing when the situation calls for action is akin to sitting with heavens keys in ones back pocket yet everyone is looking for heavens door. There is no greater betrayal than this even if done in ignorance. Last but certainly not least we wish to remind Morgan Tsvangirai that as much as we respect and value his contribution to the struggle we will not dwell in the past. While we frown upon Zanu-Pfs CIO projects to divert the MDC-T from focussing on the ball, we also think that Tsvangirai needs to do more to avoid the giving to those projects the benefit of doubt by the masses who do not fully understand how Zanu-Pf has been able to infiltrate the opposition to come up with such funny named splinter groups as MDC-T Renewal, MDC-M, MDC-N or Grand Coalitions which are not so grand. He needs a paradigm shift from previous methods if he wants to succeed and remain relevant. If we spare the rod we spoil the child. Asijiki.
