Tuesday, July 09, 2013 PRAYER BURDEN ?... After a time of prayer recently, Carolyn and I began discussing how faith is expressed in our prayers, or
was it more like WORRY? We try to not allow ourselves to be deceived by believing something we are comfortable with in God, is “righteous,” just because we have been doing it that way for many years. The conclusion was, we knew a “Prayer Burden” had to be from God, and Worry of course is from satan. But,”
where is the line,” that separates one from the other, we asked? Our “wise” speculations were getting us nowhere, so I did a little study. Here is what we found. A Prayer Burden comes from the Spirit of God to our spirit. The Word “burden” in this context, means the weightiness of God – the weight of His glorious Presence- desiring to be the only result and conclusion to the “burdening” situation He has placed upon our hearts. So, He trusts us to not get involved in trying to know the outcome, but to simply trust Him. As we pray, declaring our trust in Him, and deliberately refusing our flesh any room to speculate, He then begins to release the confident peace we need, to know the matter is done for His greater glory. The personal results are; our hearts are re-aligned with Him, we are satisfied because we know we can/will trust Him, we are encouraged to know our “answer” was/is settled in His will, and we rejoice! Worry on the other hand begins in MY mind because of MY concerns. I pray with faith that my desires in the matter are His will, requiring Him to align the answer with my godly concerns and hopes. So we proceed to instruct God on how He might orchestrate the circumstances to achieve our desired results. We pray, naturally, in a manner that indicates we desire the answer that will make our lives less difficult and more to our advantage. Surely, “we have the mind of the Lord” and we are seeking believers in the ways of righteousness. And
the unintended consequences are we end up where we began, in the flesh, rather than where we had hoped. In the Spirit! The Prayer Burden is about Him because it is from Him. Worry is about me because it is from me! As you keep RIDING THE WIND, the Spirit of the living God, The teacher of all, will lead us in paths of righteousness for His Names’ sake.
