Tuesday, July 16th inspired by Theo Rowe Feeding the Sheep Not Entertaining the Goats “All the nations of the world will be gathered before Him and He will separate them into two groups. He will put the sheep on His right Hand and the goats on His left.” Matthew 25:32 How many times have we been disappointed by family, friends, business associates or employees and sometimes seek revenge or wish that God will just destroy the people that caused us pain or grief? In this passage, Jesus explained how people will be divided into two. The sheep are members of the family of God and the goats are the seed of the devil seeking to bring down and destroy those that are godly. The Bible story gave an illustration of this passage in Calvary. Jesus was crucified with two criminals, one on the left and the other on the right. The one on the right (the sheep) pleaded with Jesus to take him to God’s kingdom (humility); while the one on the left (the goat) blasphemed (proud/corky). The sheep, Jesus continued in verse 34, will inherit the kingdom of God prepared for them since the beginning of the world but the goats in verse 41 he said, are cursed into eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. In the past we have all helped people we thought were godly (the wolves in sheep clothing) who have disappointed and caused us pain; however, we should not allow the negative outcome (disappointments) of our mistakes to take control of us and miss out on the promise of God in 2nd Peter 2:9. So the Lord knows how to save those who serve Him when trouble comes. He will hold evil people (the goats) and punish them while waiting for the Judgment Day; therefore, when as a sheep you are victimized by evil people, (the goats), you must pay attention to God’s message and focus on the promise He already made to restore and provide for you abundantly. Prayer: Heavenly Father, teach me to be still when I endure the pain of disappointments caused by evil people so that I will through the Holy Spirit receive Your heavenly promise. Let Your light shine upon me and keep me on the right side of Your son, Jesus Christ, forever. Amen.
