Tuesday, July 29th, 3:00: David Waldrons having another good day! They let him get up and walk around the nurses station. He did one lap, then sat to do some stretches. He told the physical therapist he wanted to take another lap. It brought tears to her eyes. She said she usually has to beg people in Davids condition to get up. She was impressed with his will to want to get better! His vision has gotten a little better today too. I sit on his left side so he has to look for me and try to use that eye. Weve been playing games like letter search and find the item on the table to help him learn to scan the area thats in front of him. We also wrote love letters back and forth so he could practice writing on paper starting all the way to the left...... So I stopped writing for a few minutes because the phyiscial therapist came in again. David walked again this time he used a walker. Woohoo!! Hes walking more and more by himself. He went out of the ICU and finally looked out the window. Its not pretty out, but seeing outside was exciting to him. He hasnt seen outside in over two weeks. He walked back to the room and then did some workouts. The nurse kept saying, How do you feel? Are you tired? His response, Nah! Im good! Everyone is just so impressed and so am I. I cant help but giggle each time he does something thats an improvement or when he does something independently. Our new friend from Pensacola, Don (my hitching hiking friend) is so extremely sweet that he is driving my car to Houston tonight. I cant believe a complete stranger would be so incredibly sweet to us! Actually, there have been many strangers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. David and I were actually talking about it today. Would we have been this nice? Would we have been willing to drive almost ten hours to help a stranger out? I hope so, but I cant say for sure - but now we would! You never know what kind of situations the Lord will put in front of you. Its His test to see if you will trust Him and follow through with random activities that He brings in your path. What would you do? Next time you see someone stranded, will you help? When someone comes to you looking for guidance or help, will you be there to see them through. Don, along with some many other strangers who have been brought into our paths, has thought me that I need to keep my eyes open for acts of kindness. You really never know what people are going through. With that said, keep watching out for stranger danger! If you feel God leading you the call of duty, jump on board with no hesitations. You could change someones life!
