Recently, a newly-minted owner-operator left his rig unattended in what he thought was a secure parking area, only to return to find truck and trailer gone. A 48 foot production truck was stolen in Miami Lakes then recovered. On Freewheelin’s Facebook page many of you jumped on that driver with both feet, saying, essentially, “Never get out of the boat”: Don’t leave a high-value load to go sleep in a motel. Is this “blaming the victim”? What constitutes a “high value load”? Do you ever feel chained to your load, like you can’t let it out of your sight?
