Tuesday report, 27th, 11:05AM: JACKSON SUN, PAFFORD, REEDS were checked. The following was found: LAWRENCE-SORENSEN FUNERAL HOME, JACKSON Obituary William Garner Funeral services for Mr. William Garner, age 93, will be at 12 Noon Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Henderson County, TN. Mr. Garner died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt. William Garner was born June 21, 1921 in Henderson County, Tennessee to the late Otto and Ruby Garner. He was the eldest of four brothers and one sister. William married Harding Garner in 1940. During World War II, William joined the Navy in Memphis and served in Guam. Following his discharge, he and Harding resided in Memphis where he worked as a barber, then William and Harding moved to Jackson and purchased a farm on the Lower Brownsville Rd., and later a larger farm in Westover, where they farmed and raised their children, Betty Hudson and David Garner. William also worked until his retirement at Conalco Aluminum Corporation in Jackson. He is a member of the Westover Baptist Church. William was preceded in death by his brothers, Troy, Herby and Lloyd Garner. He is survived by his wife, Harding Garner; his children, Betty Hudson and David Garner; his grandchildren, Bill and Marc Bailey, Chad Garner and Jennifer Kirkendol, and his beautiful great-grandchildren, Alix and Ava Kirkendol, and Chase and Carson Garner. He is also survived by his sister, Jo Jean Rice; his brother, John Garner and wife Jeanne, and many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be directed to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital . Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon Wednesday, at the funeral home.
