Tulip Festival at Rajapruek Royal Park this month At the Curcuma: Tulips of Siam Festival the most charming varieties of Thai tulips will be on display from July 25,2013 – August 18, 2013 at the Royal Park in Chiang Mai. The Park along with the Research Institute for Highlands Development (Public Organization) would like to invite general public as well as tourists alike to visit the Curcuma : Siam Tulip Festival. The organizers are now busy preparing for the upcoming event which will be opened daily from 8 .00 a.m. – 6 .00 p.m. The objective of the festival is to promote Siam Tulips and also attract more tourists to the region. Moreover, the festival is held with the aim of encouraging people to recognize more about the importance of "Curcuma" which has been so-called the “Tulip of Siam” as well as disseminating knowledge and research related to Curcuma. Curcuma is a tulip genus for as many as 21 species of the plants which will be in the Curcuma gardens and landscaping during the festival activities which will also feature Curcuma gardening, tulip exhibitions, academic or technical knowledge discussion and also the transfer of value of the Curcuma to the youths and farmers as well. In addition, the festival will include musical shows, “Walk Rally” event showcasing, DIY activities like paintings and many more. For the opening ceremony of the festival, it will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. with His Serene Highness Prince Bhisatej Rajani, Chairman of the Royal Project Foundation of Thailand, will be graciously preside over the Opening Ceremony.
