Turkish people (trade unions, civil society organizations and environmentalists and progressive parties stood up in human solidarity expressing serious concerns about erosion of the right to freedom of expression and the right to free and independent assembly including trade union rights. Unfortunately, the Turkish state deployed and instead of engaging in a constructive dialogue with peaceful protestors, heavy brutal force that lead to the death of four people and the injury of over two thousands and the imprisonment of many more. The Turkish authorities’ brutal handling of peaceful and legitimate protests sparked worldwid condemnation. KESK, the Public sector trade union federation lead a massive and glorious struggle across Turkey for trade union and human rights calling on the Turkish state to immediately: End violent repression; Guaranteeing the right to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression. KESK and the wider Turkish trade union movement need your solidarity. Please stand with your fellow Turkish brothers and sisters in their just call for freedom, democracy and social justices, job security, decent wage and fair working condition.
