Tweeter gets 2 years jail with hard labor The Financial Criminal Court presided over by Judge Nawaf Al-Shuraiyan sentenced Twitter user Abdullah Fayrouz to two-year imprisonment with hard labor and KD 150 fine for abusing the judicial court. It also ordered him to pay a temporary compensation of KD 5,001 to the judge who filed the case against him. According to the court files, the Public Prosecution accused the suspect of posting offensive remarks about the Head of the Supreme Judiciary Council and Judge of the Court of First Instance on his Twitter account. The court explained that the suspect did not show respect towards the judiciary authority by raising doubts against the judge’s honesty and devotion to work, which in turn is an insult against the entire body of the Kuwaiti judiciary. It clarified that it will ignore the denial of the defendant and his claim of legal criticism, stressing that the mistake he committed against the plaintiff caused harm. Courtesy: Arabtimesonline
