Twelve years ago on this date, the lovely lady in my profile photo, my mom, Sandra Darlene Jones-Rainey, passed away. Although its been 12 years, I still miss her dearly. This time of year is always strange for me; on one hand, Im extremely thankful that I have lived to see another year. On the other hand, this date invokes memories of my mom, and the huge hole she left when she passed away. I am most grateful for her, and the time she was here in earth, to love, discipline, and nurture my siblings and I. Theres a verse in a song that goes: There will never be another, that would love me like my mother On this ethereal plane, I believe that to be true. Im not gonna bore yall with semantics, or a soapbox, however, I always want to acknowledge my mom on this day, due to the added significance to it. If Ive said this once, Ill say it a thousand times; if your mom (or whoever filled that role in your life) is still alive on earth, cherish, love and respect her. On another note, thanks to everyone whos reached out to me via Facebook, text, and phone calls thus far, and the day hasnt even started good, lol. I really appreciate it!! Yall have a great day, and thanks again! :)
