Twice a year I go to Singapore for a visa-run. At the airport I ran into a good friend who’s a pretty well known painter in the art-world. There for the same reason as me.., he was dressed in a white suit and snazzy snake skin shoes looking suave for a gallery meet he programmed in. So we hung for the day. After the meeting we left the bland high brand atmosphere of Orchard street behind and ventured for china-town. We were on a quest for a palomino hat ( The type hassidic jews often wear. ) he desperately wanted. We couldn’t find one on Orchard and I assured him that in this part of the world we were probably not going to find one in China-town either. However I did finally spot a white painted straw tropic-cowboy type of thing with a black & white checkered band. Perfect fit with the suit. Sweating heavily and both our feet in blisters, we made our way back to the airport.
