Two Ondo PDP Reps to defect to APC As the crisis rocking the Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) continues to linger on, two House of Representatives lawmakers from the party are now on the verge of joining the All Progressives Congress. The duo, who will soon be officially welcomed into the opposition party are the representative of Akoko North East/West federal constituency, Gani Dauda. He was elected into the Assembly on the platform of the Labour Party (LP), but later decamped with Governor Olusegun Mimiko to the PDP early last month and Okitipupa/Irele federal constituency representative, Albert Akintoye a.k.a HOT. DailyPost authoritatively gathered that the lawmakers will soon make their official declaration at the APC State secretariat before the end of this week. The State Vice-Chairman of APC, Engr. Ade Adetimehin said their defection will be a boost for Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuawal to still remain as Speaker. While confirming his defection, Akintoye in a telephone interview with DailyPost attributed his planned defection to the unresolved crisis that trails the defection of Dr. Mimiko to the PDP in the state. The legislator said the PDP in the state had witnessed unprecedented political decadence since Dr. Mimiko decamped to the party a month ago. Hon. Akintoye said he expected Dr. Mimiko to carry every party member along and involve them in the scheme of things, but he rather adopted divide and rule tactic due to his selfish interest. “How can you just come into the party and say you want to take over the party at the detriment of the old members and destroy the existing structure?” “Everybody in Ondo State knows that Mimiko left Labour Party because the party had lost credibility and relevance in the state. We expected the leadership of PDP to address and handle the issue appropriately but instead, they rather did otherwise
