Two Tropical Water Lilies - and a Little Something Extra I hope - TopicsExpress

Two Tropical Water Lilies - and a Little Something Extra I hope Mike lets this one fly - well, frogs dont fly but you know what I mean. As Im sure those of you that have been photographing flowers and nature for awhile can attest, its really a lot more difficult that those less/not experienced could ever imagine. I know I spend a considerable amount of time hoping for the right weather/lighting conditions, looking for the right subject (victim), bobbing up/down, to and fro, and left/right scoping out the most suitable background. And then there is the physical torture of getting down on my hands and knees (and then having to get back up), After Ive settled on the subject/composition then comes futzing with camera/tripod position, gadgets and DOF/selective focus, setting up extension arms, reflectors, flash, and anything else I can to bounce the right amount of light onto my subject - all in the hopes of getting a jaw dropping picture....of a flower. I know you all know what Im talking about; making a pretty picture is hard work, isnt it? But sometimes, even after all that, it just looks like a pretty picture; blah, nothing special. After reviewing my photos, Im usually still always wanting that something extra. On this day, I got my something extra, a rarity - and heck, I was even prepared to capture the moment - no matter how brief it lasted. Serendipity. I have few moments like this in my library of 10s of thousands of images. These photos are my equivalent to a golfers hole-in-one; it is what motivates me to continue making photos. Work hard to make good photos, look for rare opportunities and be prepared for your moment - it makes you temporarily forget about all the bad news that were bombarded by on a daily basis. Peace and have a great day. Happy Wednesday, happy shooting.
