Two United States Marine Corps veterans, MDPD volunteer, Mr. Eduardo Lombard and MDPD,Sergeant Daniel Hannah, were awarded Quilts of Valor at the Miami-Dade County Military Affairs Board on August 6, 2014. Mr. Lombard served in Vietnam and Sergeant Hannah served in Iraq. The quilts, made by Quilt Guild By The Sea volunteers on behalf of the Quilt of Valor Foundation (QOVF), are part of a national grassroots community service effort. Quilts are awarded as a tangible reminder of America’s appreciation and gratitude for the service of returning service men and women touched by war. As of July 2014, there have been over 103,000 quilts awarded to service members/veterans as a token of appreciation that unequivocally say, “Thank you for your service, sacrifice, and valor.”
