Two boys who drowned in the Okavango River on Thursday last week - TopicsExpress

Two boys who drowned in the Okavango River on Thursday last week were on Sunday buried immediately because their bodies had decomposed. Shakawe Police Station Commander Ndiko Size Malibala told Gabz FM news that the two boys, aged 8 and 10, were on a fishing trip with their father on Thursday afternoon when a hippo hit their canoe causing it to capsize. Their fathers managed to swim to shore, but his sons drowned. He said a search team of scuba divers from the police and the Botswana Defence Force immediately started searching for the two bodies but only found them on Sunday. Malibala noted that it was difficult to keep people out of the river as fishing, cutting reeds, and harvesting water lilies were their livelihood. He however urged members of the public to be careful when using the river.
