Two long weekends in a row thats gotta be a chance to chalk up some time in the garden. Yesterday I had the opportunity to enjoy the big Sydney Harbour Garden on Anzac Day and quite fittingly from a wartime landscape that I had never been to before, The Gunnnery. After a morning when the rain was just bucketing down from the sky as though someone had left the bath on upstairs and the whole room filled up and fell through the ceiling, the afternoon sky had been washed clear and the light was simply stunning for my friends wedding. Havnt been to a wedding for a while and it was wonderful to share in the many moments of the civil ceremony and then the speeches. Not being one to promote waste I was taken by a blessing given by the families local priest who contributed at one point during the ceremony may you live fully and love wastefully…. The Gunnery was an amazing setting for the day and evening and it was so good to have a serious shake on the dance floor well into the night. Now on the topic of gardening, more and more peoples gardens are courtyards and this week on Gardening Australia Josh visits garden of designer Janine Mendel to share lots of ideas on how to get the most out of small space gardening. Off the back of this,SophieThomson in Adelaide demonstrates how to get some indoor colour and fragrance in spring time by growing bulbs in pots. Tino Carnevale discusses the principles behind single bed planting using his recently upgraded and renovated six bed garden garden at the Patch in Hobarts Botanic Gardens Angus Stewart shows us around his family, well maybe just an extended arm of the family Solanaceae to learn more about this vast species that includes the potato. And finally Jane dives deep into the tranquility of a garden planted and cared for by a Buddhist order of monks Have a great weekend. I am on a flight to Felton for the 3rd Felton Food Festival.
