Two male specimens Papilio machaon. On the left, the interesting specimen that I was able to collect on the field in Belarus on July 2009, during one of my summer trips. On the right, a typical specimen from Liguria, Italy, collected on April 2013. Ive always been curious to see the differences between the two populations of machaons. Personally Im not very knowledgeable about the varieties and subspecies of this taxon, but here I see some pretty differences, as the black spots on the front wings of the Belarusian machaon, absent in the Ligurian specimen.
