Please send Grace some love. She is about to go under anaesthetic and have her tail amputated above the break :-( She has had such a rough time over the last 10 days since her surgery. For some reason it just hasnt healed well (probably because the break was 10 days old by the time it was diagnosed and operated on). She is far too flexible and 2 nights ago (even wearing a bucket-head cone + a kong inflatable ring), she managed to get her bandages off in the middle of the night while we were asleep and did some damage. Wendy has taken her to Malcolm in Whittlesea today (4 hours away) and after looking at the wound he has now advised us that he thinks it would be better for Grace if we do the amputation. I have just had this conversation with Wendy & Malcolm on the phone and she is about to have the surgery and will have to stay at the vets tonight. We decided that it wasnt fair to her to do the repair because this would mean at least 5 more weeks in bandages and significant pain. She has been so brave and trusting but this way it will hopefully all be over in ~10 days time and she can get back to wildly wagging her (remaining) tail
