Two missionaries just chapped my door, at first when I opened up the door, I expected to be hounded by dogmatic beliefs about a book that was intended to be allegorical taken literally, my heart sank a little because Im not one to shut the door in the face of another being who wants to speak to me, so what I did was when they said to me have you ever read the book of Mormon, I said I hadnt, but that I didnt believe in any singular religion, and that I thought there was a god within every life-form, and that there were three main aspects to that god, the body, the mind, and the spirit, the body being your physical self, your mind being the thoughts that you think, and your spirit being the silent and eternal presence in your mind that listens to and understands your thoughts and makes sense of them, I told them that I believed that eternal spirit was the exact same spirit that was inside both of them as well, and that this spirit was present inside all life-forms, and that many could consider it to be some kind of god, but the most important part of this story, was that they listened, silently, to everything I had to say, and afterwards, they asked me more about what I thought, imagine that, religious missionaries listening to what you have to say about spirituality, and then actually wanting to know more when you finished, one of them started writing on a piece of paper and the other said to me that he also believed that the religious texts around the world werent meant to be literal but that there were still many great truths within them for anybody who reads and understands, he said he didnt think that his own holy book was any more important than any of the others, and that they didnt intend to change what I thought about the world, but only to add onto it, the second man handed me the piece of paper with their names and numbers and said theyd like to speak more, and we wished each other happiness and they left. Now, dont get me wrong here, theres nothing worse than a dogmatic religious fanatic (Apart from maybe a dogmatic scientist), but they were both still people, human beings who had come to my door to try to tell me what they thought was the truth of the world out of happiness and love, it doesnt matter whether or not they were right, or whether or not they were crazy or any of that, what mattered was the intention they had from their own point of view, it was loving, kind, respectful and GENUINE! It doesnt matter what you believe, or how right you think you are, what matters is the planet that you live on, and the people that you share her with.
