Two people have now contacted me saying they have been threatened for opposing dogs on leads at St Helens. Added to the threats Ive received that makes three people. The latest threat Ive had is also in the hands of the police following this: I WILL happily set light to Berns dog! .....We will slit the dogs throat and hang it up so everyone can see. Yet according to the IW council deputy leader he considers our support for Dogs to be Rabid (ie extreme or fanatical support of or belief in something) Heres what he said: I note whenever dogs are mentioned theres a RABID support for them, urrm, theres a, theres a movement on the isle of Wight which effectively anything to do with a dog not being allowed to do something is, urm, is regarded as some sort of HERESY, I, I, I find that quite disturbing So, for example, lets have a closer look at my rabid support. Well it consists of me making FOI requests for public information which we are entitled to as its just that, public information. Firstly I established there had been no enforcement of the Dogs on Leads Order, embarrassing for the IW council as that is a requirement for making or amending a Dog Order. Secondly I have established there has been only 3 complaints. 2 of them apparently written in the same handwriting, about dogs on St Helens beach. Once again embarrassing for the IW council as they need to show the amendment is a proportionate response. The IW council officers could see that it was impractical for them to continue introducing this amendment, hence their recommendation not to go ahead with it. The executive overruled all of that, with 7 of them voting for it to go ahead and one of them, the very member responsible for the recommendation by the officers, she decided to abstain. Which brings up another radical expectation of mine, in that I expect the Island Independents to uphold the promises they made when they said they would comply with the Bell Principles which their actions contradict Other than that I have posted some cartoons of members of the council executive. This is satire, if Cllr. Stubbings could see further than the end of his nose he would know that by doing so I am validating him as a politician, as theres a long tradition of such lampooning. But he has no experience as a councillor, he is hot-headed, bears grudges and struggles to control his temper. Frankly I find it quite disturbing that he is deputy leader of this hypocritical council. Who do you think is extreme or fanatical or disturbing here, the pro-dog supporters or the anti-dog?
