Two shots of Arved Theuermann and Josef Fitzthum touring the Heroes Cemetery of the Legioen Nederland outside Selo Gora, Russia, on or about July 10, 1942. That was the day that Fitzthum officially replaced Theuermann as commander of the regiment. Theuermann had held command since April 1, when he succeeded Otto Reich. The latter was an Oberfuehrer by this time, while Theuermann was still an Obersturmbannfuehrer in these photos. Theuermann, a former Latvian citizen, who spoke fluent Latvian, went on to assist Rudolfs Bangerskis in the forming of the Latvian Legion.
